Day 01 - Shimla Local Sightseeing

Places to Visit
SANGLA is the city in the Baspa valley, and is most beautiful valley of the Kinnour district and Himachal spread from Karchham to Chittkul. This valley is a part of the Kinnour and is settled with kinnouris. Here beside the natural beauty, Kamru fort, Mata temple and Bearing Nag temples are the main attractions of the valley.
CHHITTKUL It is the last inhabited village near the indo china border. This is the first and last village on the Indo-Tibetan border where one can travel without permit. The fames here are the wooden plank roofs, Buddist temples, and a small tower. Here Kagyupa temple has a highly valued old image of the Sakyamuni Buddha.
KALPA is a small town in the Sutlej valley above Reckong-Peo. It is famous for its apple orchards which is the major cash crop of the region. This is a beautiful place and is a usually visited by tourist throughout the year. One can visit here throughout the year.
NAKO is a small village in the northern India, located near the Indo-China border. This is famous for the Nako Lake, Nako Monestary, Chango Gompa and Buddist chortens. It is 120 km from Kalpa. Here in the Nako Monestary there are many old monuments of the Buddhist culture which are the subject of the interest. The Nako Lake is attached to the Nako village.
Reckong Peo is the district headquarters of the Kinnour district. And is situated at distance of 250 km from the capital city Shimla.
The national highway NH-22 is connected with Kinnaur. Jeep, Taxis and Buses are the means of transport. There is no railway and airway connectivity to this district. One has to travel from Shimla to Kinnaur by road, which is a distance of 235 Kms.
Bus Stand - ISBT Shimla, Sangla, Kalpa, Nako.
By Train - Shimla is also well connected to rail route by Narrow Gauge line to Kalka and Kalka is very well connected to all the major parts of the country including Mumbai, Calcutta, and Delhi etc.
By Air - The Airport of Shimla with a small runway is about 23 kms, from the city center. There is only one flight a day available to Shimla and the same return back to Delhi. Flights are very unreliable and depend on the wheatear conditions in the mountains specially Shimla.

As per the weather conditions, Kinnaur may be best visited from the month of May to October. The temperature of weather in summer season here varies between 0 and 26°C. In winter season the temperature remains below 22°C and may fall down to -4°C.
Winter Season - Oct to March
The weather remain very cold in these months here the mountains remains covered with the snow from December to March.
Summer Season - April to June
The environment here remains cool and pleasant during the summer season.
Rainy Season - July to Oct
It is the rainy season here and the route remains through up to Tabo, Kaza, Keylong, and Manali and also to Leh. This is considered as the best time to visit the Kinnour.
