Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit to Chandigarh is between August and November because the weather in this time is moderates i.e. not much hot and not much cold.

PLACES TO VISIT

Rock Garden: - This is a sculpture garden in Chandigarh, also known as the Nek Chand's Rock Garden after its founder Nek Chand. This garden is spread over 40 acre area. This garden is constructed with only stones.

Rose Garden: - it is a botanical garden Chandigarh containing about 1600 species, of the roses. It is also name as Zakir Hussain garden after the name of the former President of India. The garden has not only the roses but also many trees of medicinal value like Bel, Harar, camphor, and yellow Gulmohar. This is the most beautiful garden in the city which is often visited by people usually the couples and lovers. Every year a rose festival is also organised here in the rose garden during the Feb or March.

Sukhna Lake: - This is a water reservoir spread over 3km2 areas. It is one of the popular attractions for the tourist here. The Golf course is attached to the south of the Lake and the famous Rock garden is in the west. This is inseparable part of Chandigarh. This is the venue for many festive celebrations like the Mango festival held in Monsoons season.

ChhatBir Zoo: - This is a zoological park abode to variety of the birds, mammals and reptiles. The people who visit this zoo can enjoy the trip to the reserve of Asiatic Lions where the animals are found roaming freely. This is one of the most visited places in Chandigarh.

Govt. Museum & Art Gallery: - This is a natural museum and art gallery that have three sections, the national history museum, the national gallery of portraits and the Chandigarh architecture museum. This is very popular museum and gallery in Chandigarh.

Elante Mall: - This is the shopping mall in Chandigarh city which is the 2nd largest shopping mall in the northern India. And 3rd in India spread over about 20 acre area. Elante mall hosts various Indian and international brands.

Golf Club is attached to the Sukhna Lake.

PCA is situated in Mohali and is an International Stadium.

By Train - Chandigarh Railway Station is approx 8 kilometers from the city centre. The railway station has regular trains connecting it with different cities in India. Chennai Express, Paschim Express, Kerala Sampark Kranti and Sadbhavna Express are other important trains plying at the route connecting Chandigarh with other cities too.

By Air - To reach Chandigarh is not a tough task as Chandigarh Airport is located approx 12 kilometers from the main city. Chandigarh International Airport (IXC) is a Customs Airport in Chandigarh and has various commercial flights from Airlines.
